In its continuing effort to combat stubbornly low population health metrics in South Louisiana, St. Tammany Health System on Thursday (July 10) rolled out its latest mobile screening unit, a first-in-the-region lung screening vehicle designed to bring potentially life-saving cancer screenings directly into the community.

For the 19th consecutive grading period, St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital has earned an “A” grade for patient safety for spring 2025 from the Leapfrog Group, an independent healthcare watchdog organization. The recognition extends St. Tammany’s streak, which began in 2016, to nine and a half years. No other Louisiana hospital or health system has received as many consecutive A’s.

Two St. Tammany Health System Pediatric Departments are now a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC), a designation granted by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). The designation means that physicians and staff in the inpatient pediatric unit and pediatric emergency department completed an additional autism-specific training and certification program to improve patient outcomes and experiences.
