A group of future nurses and allied health professionals took center stage Tuesday morning (Jan. 13) as St. Tammany Health System presented its Spring 2026 Board of Commissioners’ Nursing and Allied Health Scholarships at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
The ceremony was held in the Covington–Mandeville Room and recognized 11 scholarship recipients, selected from a pool of 24 applicants, underscoring the competitive nature of the program. Together, the scholarships awarded this cycle total $131,750.
The Board of Commissioners scholarship program is designed to help maintain a sustainable, dedicated healthcare workforce by supporting students pursuing degrees in nursing and allied health fields. Some recipients are already St. Tammany Health System colleagues seeking to advance their education, while others are external applicants drawn to the health system as a potential future employer.
That dual focus, leaders noted during remarks, allows the program to both invest in existing colleagues and attract the next generation of caregivers to the organization.
Remarks were delivered by Bronwyn Doyle, assistant vice president of workforce strategy; President and CEO Joan Coffman; Chief Nursing Officer Kerry Milton; and Senior Vice President of Human Resources Christopher Ford. Each speaker emphasized what sets St. Tammany Health System apart from other healthcare organizations, pointing to its deeply rooted Culture of Caring and commitment to supporting colleagues at every stage of their professional journey.

- Ahsanti Young of Baton Rouge Community College, sonography.

Following the presentation, recipients and their loved ones in attendance gathered for refreshments and photos, including a chance to capture the moment at the St. Tammany Health System selfie station.
The health system’s Human Resources team added a bit of fun to the program by presenting each recipient with a St. Tammany Health System hat and T-shirt, a playful nod to the signing days commonly seen in college athletics.
The Board of Commissioners scholarship program has become an important pipeline for developing future healthcare professionals, with the hope that many recipients will choose to build their careers at St. Tammany Health System after graduation.
The application window for the next round of Board of Commissioners scholarships opens in April, continuing the health system’s investment in education, workforce development and the future of care on the Northshore.
