COVINGTON – St. Tammany Quality Network (STQN) is pleased to announce that Dr. Christine Thurston has been awarded the Northshore organization’s Medical Director’s Award for the third quarter of 2025, in recognition of her outstanding care of her patients, as exemplified by her excellent quality scores.
The STQN Primary Care Quality Scorecard measures such things as hypertension control, diabetes management, diabetic retinopathy screening and vascular disease care. It also measures smoking quit rates.
“All our STQN primary care physicians deliver great care to their patients. That said, it became apparent that one physician had achieved all her scorecard goals early in the year and has consistently maintained that lofty goal, and that is Dr. Thurston” said Dr. Michael Hill, STQN medical director. “Additionally, Dr. Thurston receives wonderful patient reviews highlighting her compassionate care and attention to detail.”
It is well known that patients with chronic conditions have much better outcomes when they have active medical management and participate in goal-directed therapy.
Dr. Thurston works in the St. Tammany Physicians Network clinic in Mandeville (201 St. Ann Drive). She has been with St. Tammany Health System for almost five years. She earned her undergraduate degree from American University in Washington, D.C., before earning her medical degree from the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg. She is board certified in internal medicine and is currently working on completing her certification in obesity management medicine.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Drs. Thurston on this well-deserved recognition.
