An event dedicated to celebrating the compassion, commitment and expertise at the heart of the nursing profession received a STHS-fueled upgrade Tuesday evening, as the Northshore District Nurses Association’s annual recognition ceremony debuted a new gala format honoring the region’s best.

Naturally, St. Tammany Health System was well-represented at the packed event, held at Benedict’s Plantation in Mandeville. In addition to occupying five full tables, seven STHS nurses were among the evening’s 26 honorees. Congratulations go to:

  • Jennifer Bourgeois, New Family Center.
  • Rachel Michel Donovan, Wound Care.
  • Heather Flynn, NICU.
  • Donna Giovingo, Education.
  • Rachel Barbay Givens, Adult ICU.
  • Kelly Parker, Pediatrics.
  • Kristin Vogt, Adult ICU.

Find a full list of honorees at the Northshore District Nurses Association website.

They aren’t the only St. Tammany Health System colleagues deserving of accolades. Behind the scenes, the new, improved celebration was spearheaded by STHS AVP-Critical Care Teresa Krutzfeldt, who is the current president of the nursing association; PACU nurse Denise Campbell, NDNA treasurer; and AVP-Women and Children’s Services Cindy Ingram and Neurosciences Nurse Manager Michelle Hoskins, who are all on the NDNA board.

Together, they helped transform what for two decades had been a simple conference-room ceremony into a glitzy evening worthy of the profession’s impact.

Excitement was palpable throughout the evening, marking a new chapter for an annual celebration aimed at recognizing nurses who embody the mission of compassionate, high-quality care across the Northshore.

“I am still reeling,” STHS Chief Nursing Officer Kerry Milton said Wednesday morning. “It was a fantastic gala!”
