Mackey Martarona is one busy person.
In addition to recently overseeing one of the largest, most innovative upgrades to the lab at St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Mackey also serves as director of said lab, a round-the-clock operation that facilitates the diagnosis and treatment of hospital patients 365 days a year.
Between all that, she somehow recently found time to sit down with industry publication Life Sciences Review to talk about the recent lab upgrade, her rapid ascent from phlebotomist to lab director, and her approach to finding solutions to the myriad challenges that come with the job.
Unsurprisingly, staying atop industry innovations is among the secrets to her success.
“Staying informed on advancements and collaborating with doctors and directors allows us to equip our lab with the best technology, ensuring high-quality care for our community,” Mackey said.
