The STHS Learning and Development Department recently welcomed the health system’s newest class of nurse residents.
This new class of residents – which includes graduates from Southeastern Louisiana University, Northshore Technical Community College, Delgado Community College, Pearl River Community College and Southwest Mississippi Community College – will join teams from various departments throughout the hospital.
Their names and units follow:
St. Tammany Health System provides a structured, supportive transition-to-practice program designed to guide newly licensed registered and practical nurses as they move from the academic setting into confident, competent professional nursing practice. The program fosters clinical excellence, critical thinking, professional growth and emotional resilience during the first year of practice. The orientation phase varies in length from 14 to 20 weeks depending on area specific needs.
Cohorts are accepted into the program three times a year: in January, June and September.
