St. Tammany Health System joins healthcare organizations nationwide today (Friday, Feb. 27), in celebrating Thank-A-Resident Day, a national observance honoring resident physicians for their contributions to patient care and medical education.
Thank-A-Resident Day, created by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation’s Gold Humanism Honor Society, is observed each year on the last Friday in February to recognize the vital role resident physicians play in the healthcare landscape.
As part of the observance, St. Tammany Health System is taking the opportunity to thank the resident physicians training with its St. Tammany-Ochsner Family Medicine Residency Program, which opened in 2024 at the St. Tammany Physicians Network clinic in North Covington.
Residents balance rigorous clinical schedules with ongoing education, often working long hours to ensure patients of all ages – from pediatric to geriatric – receive timely, attentive care. Their presence expands access to primary care in the community while helping shape the next generation of family medicine physicians on the Northshore.
Their impact also extends beyond clinic walls. In December, residents participated in a day of service in Covington’s West 30s neighborhood, reflecting a commitment not only to treating illness but to strengthening the community as a whole.
So: Thank you, doctors, for all you do – both in the clinic and in the community.
