COVINGTON – St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital has been named a 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report high-performing hospital for treatment of stroke, as well as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
The distinctions, announced Aug. 4 as part of U.S. News’ latest Best Hospitals rankings, add to the hospital’s recent inclusion on the publication’s 2026 list of the nation’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.
Of the more than 4,400 hospitals evaluated by U.S. News for its 2026-2027 rankings, only 43% earned even a single high-performing rating.

U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospitals rankings are intended to help patients and families identify hospitals that provide skilled inpatient care for serious or complex conditions. Rankings in 11 of the 14 evaluated specialties are based largely on objective measures, including Medicare claims and other publicly available data, with factors including survival rates for serious cases, patient experience and other measurable outcomes. U.S. News nationally ranks the top 50 hospitals in each of those specialties, while displaying results and overall scores for all evaluated hospitals online.
