COVINGTON – St. Tammany Health System has opened vaccine clinic appointments for local patients qualified to receive a third dose (booster) of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna).

Following recommendations from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Louisiana Department of Health is providing STHS with third doses for patients whose immune systems are compromised moderately to severely and are fully vaccinated with an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna).

CDC does not recommend additional doses or booster shots for any other population at this time.

Qualified patients can schedule their third shot in MyChart or by calling (985) 898-4001.

The third dose must occur at least 28 days after full vaccination, should be the same product (Pfizer or Moderna) as the patient received initially, and requires patients to attest to their condition by completing and signing a form available at STHS vaccine appointment locations or online at https://ldh.la.gov/assets/oph/Center-CP/HANs/HANS21-58Attachment-3rdDoseAttestationForm.pdf

According to the CDC, people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are especially vulnerable to COVID-19 because they are more at risk of serious, prolonged illness. People who have compromised immune systems may benefit from an additional dose to make sure they have enough protection against COVID-19.
