Breast Cancer Awareness Month is officially underway, and as part of its community-wide United in Pink campaign, St. Tammany Health System has scheduled a number of screening events throughout the month featuring its Be Well Bus, a mobile health unit equipped with a 3D mammogram machine and other health screening equipment.

Below, find a listing of where you’ll find the bus this week, and check back every Monday throughout October for that week’s Be Well Bus schedule.

  • Wednesday (Oct. 13), 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Ochsner Health Franklinton clinic (2219 Main St., Suite B, Franklinton). Mammograms aboard the Be Well Bus will be offered.
  • Thursday (Oct. 14) 3 to 7 p.m. Mammograms will be offered aboard the Be Well Bus at the Chamber’s Expo - Community and Business Showcase at the Castine Center (63350  Pelican Blvd., Mandeville).
  • Friday (Oct. 15), 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Ladies Night Out at the STHS Women’s Pavilion (301 N. Highway 190, Suite C2, Covington), a special event featuring free food and champagne cocktails along with raffles, door prizes, education vendors, pop-up shop vendors and more.
  • Saturday (Oct. 16), 8 a.m. to noon: Mandeville Farmer’s Market (615 Lafitte St.). Mammograms aboard the Be Well Bus. Additionally, two pink-wrapped Sheriff’s Office vehicles will be on-site for those wishing to sign them.

Those interested in making an appointment to get a mammogram should do so by calling the STHS Women’s Pavilion at (985) 773-1500. (Those planning on a United in Pink event should request an appointment on the Be Well Bus.)

Several local businesses have also joined the United in Pink campaign and are offering food specials, drink specials and more to benefit the fight against cancer on the Northshore. Find a listing of special offers here.

Want to schedule a visit by the Be Well Bus to your place of business? Contact STHS Community Health Coordinator Anne Pablovich at apablovich@stph.org or (985) 898-5932.
