COVINGTON – Newsweek has named St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital one of the best hospitals in America and the fifth-best hospital in the state of Louisiana, according to its recently released World’s Best Hospitals rankings for 2026.
The annual ranking, announced in partnership with global data firm Statista, highlights top-performing hospitals across the globe and recognizes healthcare organizations demonstrating excellence in clinical outcomes, patient experience and overall quality of care. The 2026 edition evaluated more than 2,500 hospitals across 32 countries, with 420 hospitals recognized in the United States and 20 in Louisiana.
“This distinction reflects the extraordinary commitment of our physicians, nurses and colleagues who deliver compassionate, high-quality care to our Northshore community each and every day,” St. Tammany Health System President and CEO Joan Coffman said. “I am deeply grateful to them for the way they bring our mission and Culture of Caring to life.”
Hospitals included in the ranking were evaluated using a comprehensive methodology incorporating several key data sources, including recommendations from thousands of medical experts, results from patient surveys, hospital quality metrics and a survey on the implementation of patient-reported outcome measures.
“This recognition highlights the consistency and strength of the care delivered across our health system,” Coffman added. “From the bedside to our clinics and beyond, our team is committed to advancing excellence, embracing innovation and ensuring every patient experience reflects the compassion and trust our community expects of us.”
Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals rankings are now in their eighth year and aim to provide patients and families with a trusted resource when evaluating hospitals around the world.
