COVINGTON – St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital has earned the Leapfrog Full Transparency badge, recognizing the hospital’s commitment to publicly reporting information about patient safety and quality through the annual Leapfrog Hospital Survey.
The Full Transparency badge is awarded to hospitals that complete, affirm and submit all sections of the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, one of the nation's leading voluntary reporting programs focused on patient safety, quality and transparency.
“Transparency is not something we practice because it earns recognition. We practice it because it is fundamental to the trust our patients place in us every day,” said Joan Coffman, FACHE, president and CEO of St. Tammany Health System. “By openly sharing our performance, we hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards of quality and patient safety while giving our community the information it deserves to make informed healthcare decisions.”
Transparency and continuous improvement have long been central to St. Tammany Health System’s mission of delivering world-class healthcare close to home for Northshore residents. The health system regularly measures and publicly reports key quality and safety metrics, using that information to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure every patient receives the safest, highest-quality care possible.
The Leapfrog Full Transparency badge adds to a growing list of national recognitions for St. Tammany Health System, including 21 consecutive “A” grades for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, reflecting a commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence. Through ongoing investments in technology, facilities and its people, the health system continues to advance its mission of improving the health of the community it serves.
“We applaud St. Tammany Parish Hospital for its commitment to transparency,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Transparency is one of the most powerful drivers of improvement in healthcare. By fully participating in the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, St. Tammany Parish Hospital is helping patients and families access meaningful information about the safety and quality of their care.”
The Leapfrog Full Transparency Badge appears on Leapfrog's public ratings website and identifies hospitals that have committed to openly sharing information about their performance. Visit St. Tammany Health System’s Leapfrog profile at Ratings.LeapfrogGroup.org.
