On the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain, family comes first.
That’s why the delivery of first-rate family medical care has been central to
everything we’ve done at St. Tammany Health System since our founding nearly
seven decades ago.
In 2024, the health system will take that commitment to the
next level, with the establishment of its unopposed 24-resident St. Tammany Ochsner Family Medicine Residency Program,
which will provide local families with even more convenient access to our brand
of quality, compassionate healthcare while also training the next generation of
family medicine physicians.
The program's mission is to increase the primary care physician workforce in St. Tammany Parish by training a diverse cohort of competent, well-rounded physicians that will provide comprehensive, high-quality, compassionate health care to the community we serve. To accomplish this mission the residency will be based in a purpose-built, 18,000-square-foot family medicine clinic that is slated for completion in January 2024.
Along with the program director, a team of six core faculty members will practice alongside and train residents in the family medicine clinic, which will offer onsite X-ray, lab draws and physical therapy. The core faculty and a full complement of specialist faculty are excited to welcome the first class of residents in July 2024.
