Effective immediately, and until further notice, St. Tammany Health System can no longer accept new appointments for monoclonal antibody infusion therapy for COVID-positive patients.
This is due to the depletion of current supplies; it is unclear when they will be replenished by the state.
In the meantime, with the highly transmissible omicron variant driving a spike in new cases locally – and with holiday gatherings expected to lead to further infections – health system experts advise the following preventative steps:
Patients experiencing mild COVID-19 symptoms should contact their primary care provider or STHS’s Express Care walk-in clinic in Covington for treatment, leaving local emergency rooms for those in need of emergency care.
